Margie Giles – Hospital Manager
Margie joined our team in 2015 after working in the optometric field for 27 years. She has had a love of animals all her life and is thrilled to be working so closely now with them now! Margie has three children and two grandchildren, and lives in Sanford with her Pitbull, Sophie and her Boxer, Bull. We at SAH, are so happy that Margie found her way here!
Kim Mcleod, RVT – Assistant Hospital Manager & Veterinary Technician
Kim grew up in Rochester, NY and moved to North Carolina in 1985 to attend the Veterinary Technician program at Central Carolina Community College. After graduation she worked the College for 11 years as the lab facility manager and animal clinical practices lab assistant. She left that job to work as a large animal hospital supervisor at NC State University College of Veterinary Medicine for the next five years, and then worked in private practice with Apex Equine Hospital before coming to settle at Sanford Animal Hospital as one of our primary technicians. Kim loves all animals, but has a special passion for dogs and horses. Kim has three dogs, Lucky, Ellie Mae and Ginger, and a horse named Smokin’s Frostbite. She always has a hug ready for you if you are having a bad day!
Michelle Walker – Lead Receptionist
Michelle is originally from New York and now resides in Sanford with her fiancé, Joe, her two children, Xander and Sydney, a foxhound named Leah, and a lab named Logan. She came to Sanford Animal Hospital in 2012, after deciding to leave the funeral service business where she worked as a licensed funeral director, to spend more time with her family. Michelle is also very active with the Save A Lab Rescue. She will always greet you with a smile and a laugh on your way out the door!
Megan Hall — Receptionist
Megan joined our team in August of 2018. She graduated from Central Carolina Community College in 2017 with a degree in computer networking. She has a senior pit bull named Red and you can often find Megan camping or kayaking with her family and her fiance in the beautiful NC Mountains.
We are thrilled to have her on our team!
Chasity Raif — Receptionist
Chasity is our newest receptionist. She enjoys hiking with her two mutts, Jethro and Astro. You can find her at the local dog park on any day she's not working! She is majoring in psychology and enjoys working with animals. Traveling is a must, and she spends a lot of time with her family, especially doting on her boyfriend and nieces.
Amanda Blakley – Pet Groomer
Amanda has been grooming animals at Sanford Animal Hospital since 2003. She enjoys grooming both dogs and cats to create the perfect haircut for your pet. She is very patient and willing to spend the extra time to make sure that your pet gets the personal attention to ensure a happy grooming experience. Most dogs love coming to spend the day with her!
Amanda and her husband, Michael, welcomed their son, Kyler, in the summer of 2015. They live on a farm with horses, cows, and chickens. In her free time, Amanda enjoys showing in dressage horse shows.
Morgan Asbill, RVT – Lead Veterinary Technician
Morgan has been at Sanford Animal Hospital since 2012. She starting working in the kennels and is currently one of our wonderful Veterinary Technicians. We could not get through the days without her! She recently graduated from the Central Carolina Community College with a degree in Veterinary Medical Technology, and we were so happy when she accepted a position here.
Morgan is particularly interested in pet dentistry, wellness, and providing exceptional care to our hospital patients. She is also very creative and helps to keep us organized. She lives with two adorable beagles named Abby Lou and Lucy, and a mischievous cat named Silas who can open the refrigerator door!
Heather Corbin, RVT – Veterinary Technician
Heather graduated from Central Carolina Community College in 2005 with an Associate Degree in Applied Science Veterinary Medical Technology. She has been working at Sanford Animal Hospital since the spring of 2005. Her interests include client education, patient care, and international health certificates. If you need to travel with your dog anywhere in the world, she will get you there! Heather lives with her husband, Brandon. They have been married only two years, but they are high school sweethearts! She also has a sweet Pitbull name Rocket and four cats that still live at home with her parents (they just aren’t ready to leave the nest.) In her spare time, Heather enjoys family time, shopping, fishing, and photography.
Dustin Strickland, RVT – Veterinary Technician
Dustin joined the Sanford Animal Hospital team in August of 2013, first working in our kennel and then as an assistant, to help him towards his goal of becoming a Certified Veterinary Technician. He graduated from Central Carolina Community College as a Veterinary Technician in May of 2017. We are happy to say he accepted a full-time position here with us and look forward too many years of working with Dustin.
He is interested in learning more about behavior and animals, as this is such an important part of what we do and how to understand why our animals do the things they do. In his spare time, Dustin is a big football fan, the Baltimore Ravens are his favorite team. He is also a big foody and loves all types of food, is a fan a Star Wars, and enjoys rock music and fishing. We are lucky to have him here and look forward to helping him learn and grow as a Veterinary Technician.
Kristin Callis, RVT – Veterinary Technician
Kristin graduated from St. Lawrence University in 2003 with a Bachelor's of Science in Psychology. She then graduated from Central Carolina Community College as a Registered Veterinary Technician in 2010. Prior to becoming a registered technician, she was a large animal assistant for 5 years. Kristin was North Carolina's RVT of the year in 2016. Her areas of interest include dentistry, anesthesia and shelter medicine. She lives on a small farm with her husband Allen, her daughter Sydney, 4 cats - Haven, Hemi, Marbles and Millie. She also has one dog named Beaufort, as well as two horses, Happy and Pete. Kristin is very excited to be here at Sanford Animal Hospital!
Lindi Renwick – Veterinary Assistant
Lindi has worked on and off at Sanford Animal Hospital for the past 30 years. For the past four years, she has worked here full time as the Kennel Manager. She graduated from a Veterinary Technician program in 1989, but prefers to care for dogs and cats that are boarding here and need a little extra care and love while you are away from home. Lindi lives with two dogs, a lab mix named Wilson and a Great Dane named Otis. She also has three cats, Squirrely, Simon and Spanky. In her spare time she enjoys running, sleeping, and collecting Beanie Babies. She has two daughters, Anna and Lori, which we have all enjoyed watching grow up with while Lindi has worked here at Sanford Animal Hospital.
Amy Douglas – Veterinary Assistant/Cold Laser Assistant
Amy is back working with all of us at Sanford Animal Hospital, and we could not be happier! She is currently working as a receptionist and will transition into an assistant for Cold Laser Therapy and Acupuncture. Amy loves working with the animals and clients; she has worked as a veterinary assistant in the past and so is such a great help to all areas of our practice.
Hannah Hargis-Bullen - Veterinary Assistant
Hannah has been working in the veterinary field since 2005. Prior to the veterinary field, she was in the U.S. Army as a 68X Mental Health Specialist. After leaving the U.S. Army, she decided to join the veterinary field. Hannah worked mostly in the Raleigh/Cary area until moving to Sanford in 2018. She is excited to have found Sanford Animal Hospital! She has recently decided to pursue a degree in Forensic Science, so she currently works at Sanford Animal Hospital part time and goes to school full time. Hannah lives with her fiance Doug and two dogs; a mutt named Wally, and an Old English Bulldog named Bubba.
Johnna Spivey - Veterinary Assistant
Johnna graduated from Campbell University in 2015 with a Bachelor’s of Social Science in History. She taught high school history for 3 years before accepting a job teaching at Central Carolina Community College. She decided to make a career switch in the summer of 2019 and is so grateful to be working at Sanford Animal Hospital! In her spare time, Johnna still teaches ESL and Civics classes at Central Carolina Community College and also works at Enterprise Rent-A-Car. At home, she has 6 cats: Fred, Prince, Toby, Buddy, Chip and Princess!
Hannah Boschert — Veterinary Assistant
Hannah was born and raised in Pennsylvania, but she has grown to love her new life here in North Carolina. She is new to Sanford Animal Hospital, and she's currently working as a Veterinary Assistant.
Overall, Hannah has been in the veterinary field for a little over 2 years now. She eventually would like to attend the Veterinary Technician program to further her career in the field.
At home, she has 2 dogs named Ares and Koda.
Sarah Cruz — Kennel Manager
Sarah was born in Newburgh, NY but now resides in Sanford with her family. She is newly married and has two dogs, Eva and Dandy, and two cats, Mimi and Lucy.
She is looking forward to learning all she can at Sanford Animal Hospital and taking care of the dogs and cats that spend their vacations here!
Yu Han Di Ilio — Kennel Assistant
Yu Han started working as a Kennel Assistant in late 2018. She was born in Taipei, Taiwan, moved to California, and lived there until meeting her husband. They moved to Sanford in 2016. Yu Han has three dogs, a terrier mix named, Yoda, and Mr. Bean and Lucy, both pugs. She also has a rabbit, a leopard gecko, two cockatiels, a parakeet, guppies and cherry shrimp.
In her spare time, Yuhan likes to crochet and paint. Her dream is to have a house with a big back yard so she can rescue more dogs. Please say hi when you are dropping your dogs off for boarding as it is clear that she loves a variety of animals!
Jazmyn Galvao — Kennel Assistant
Having previously worked in the aviation industry, Jazmyn has now been working at Sanford Animal Hospital for over a year as a kennel and grooming assistant. She is a proud fur mama to 3 cats, Moo, Marshmallow & Marley. She recently rescued an 8 month old Chihuahua that came into the clinic with a broken jaw. She has been named Josephine the Broken, as the entire clinic is obsessed with Game Of Thrones. Jazmyn is originally from New York and is enjoying the slower paced lifestyle that North Carolina offers.
Amber Alston - Kennel Assistant
Amber recently graduation from North Carolina State University with a Bachelor's of Science in Animal Science and a minor in Zoology. She was born and raised in Sanford and has a twin brother. She has an English Spot Rabbit named Cookie and hopes to get more pets in the future. Currently, she works part-time as a kennel assistant at Sanford Animal Hospital and full time as a laboratory animal husbandry technician in Raleigh working with rodents. Amber has a diverse background when it comes to animals. She has worked at a pet resort and at the NCSU Dairy Educational Unit. She also interned at the Conservators Center, NC Museum of Natural Sciences in the Arthropod Zoo, and at the Schiele Museum of Natural History in the live animal collection. Her favorite animals by far are large cats, specifically lions and tigers and she hopes to further her career working with exotic and laboratory animals.
Elizabeth Helbling - Kennel Assistant
Elizabeth joined Sanford Animal Hospital in April 2019 as a kennel assistant. She has lived in NC her whole life and is 1 of 9 children. In her spare time, she likes to swim, skate and shop and also loves anything coffee related. She loves all animals but especially dogs. We are thrilled to have her on our team!
Gabby Lopez-Tovar - Kennel Assistant
Gabby was born in Mexico City, Mexico but raised here in Sanford. She is a senior at Lee County High School. After graduation, she aspires to be a wildlife veterinarian and will be attending North Carolina State University in the fall to study Zoology. At home, she has 4 dogs, 4 fish and a parrot. Gabby is the middle child of 3 children. She has worked at Sanford Animal Hospital since the summer of 2019. Being bilingual, she is a great asset to our team in that she is able to assist us with our Spanish speaking clients.
