Judy Hinzman – Hospital Manager
Judy joined the Sanford Animal Hospital team in 1996! After graduating high school in 1983, she left for the Army to become an Air Traffic Controller. Wanting a more quiet life, she returned to Sanford in 1990. After working various jobs in customer service, she found the right fit with SAH as a receptionist, office manager, and is now our Hospital Manager. She shares a home with four cats, three dogs, two sons, and her husband. Relaxing means cross stitching and yard work. You will often see Ollie (her yorkie puppy) playing like crazy behind the desk!
Michelle Walker – Lead Receptionist
Michelle is originally from New York and now resides in Sanford with her fiancé, Joe, her two children, Xander and Sydney, a foxhound named Leah, and a lab named Logan. She came to Sanford Animal Hospital in 2012, after deciding to leave the funeral service business where she worked as a licensed funeral director, to spend more time with her family. Michelle is also very active with the Save A Lab Rescue. She will always greet you with a smile and a laugh on your way out the door!
Margie Giles – Receptionist
Margie joined our team in 2015 after working in the optometric field for 27 years. She has had a love of animals all her life and is thrilled to be working so closely now with them now! Margie has three children and two grandchildren, and lives in Sanford with her Pitbull, Sophie and her Boxer, Bull. We at SAH, are so happy that Margie found her way here!
Heather Corbin, RVT – Veterinary Technician
Heather graduated from Central Carolina Community College in 2005 with an Associate Degree in Applied Science Veterinary Medical Technology. She has been working at Sanford Animal Hospital since the spring of 2005. Her interests include client education, patient care, and international health certificates. If you need to travel with your dog anywhere in the world, she will get you there! Heather lives with her husband, Brandon. They have been married only two years, but they are high school sweethearts! She also has a sweet Pitbull name Rocket and four cats that still live at home with her parents (they just aren’t ready to leave the nest.) In her spare time, Heather enjoys family time, shopping, fishing, and photography.
Kim Mcleod, RVT – Veterinary Technician
Kim grew up in Rochester, NY and moved to North Carolina in 1985 to attend the Veterinary Technician program at Central Carolina Community College. After graduation she worked the College for 11 years as the lab facility manager and animal clinical practices lab assistant. She left that job to work as a large animal hospital supervisor at NC State University College of Veterinary Medicine for the next five years, and then worked in private practice with Apex Equine Hospital before coming to settle at Sanford Animal Hospital as one of our primary technicians. Kim loves all animals, but has a special passion for dogs and horses. Kim has three dogs, Lucky, Ellie Mae and Ginger, and a horse named Smokin’s Frostbite. She always has a hug ready for you if you are having a bad day!
Rebecca Spencer – Veterinary Assistant
Rebecca joined our family in 1997 fresh out of high school, and she has always been an invaluable member of our team. She was born in Jacksonville, NC but raised in Sanford from the tender age of three. Rebecca’s special interests include inventory management and using her OCD for organization, senior pet care, and neonatal care.
Rebecca and her husband Ryan have three daughters, Katie, Hannah, and Sarah. Over the years she has had many dogs and cats come into her life, but she currently lives with six dogs (Karleigh, Kassie, Drake, Sully, Ozzy, and Mick), a cat (Fred), two bunnies (Sheldon and Leonard) and 19 chickens. She loves to read and is an avid crafter, always with at least one project started. As you can see, it is never a dull moment around their house!
Morgan Asbill – Veterinary Assistant
Morgan has been at Sanford Animal Hospital since 2012. She starting working in the kennels and is currently one of our wonderful veterinary assistants. We could not get through the days without her! She is currently in school to get her certification for veterinary technology at Central Carolina Community College.
Morgan is particularly interested in dentistry, wellness, and providing exceptional care to our hospital patients. She is also very creative and our information boards are most often thanks to her. She lives with an adorable beagle named Abby Lou, and a mischievous cat named Silas who can open the refrigerator door!
Dustin Strickland – Veterinary Assistant
Dustin joined the Sanford Animal Hospital team in August of 2013 to help him towards his goal of becoming a Certified Veterinary Technician. He is currently in his final year of the program at Central Carolina Community College. When he started working at SAH, it was in the kennel caring for all the dogs and cats boarding here. He has since worked his way up to be a valuable veterinary assistant. In his spare time, Dustin is a big football fan. His favorite team is Baltimore Ravens. He is also a big foody and loves all types of food, is a fan a Star Wars, and enjoys rock music and fishing. We are lucky to have him here and look forward to helping him learn and grow as a veterinary technician!
Amy Douglas – Veterinary Assistant
Amy was born and raised in Sanford. She most recently worked as a veterinary receptionist, but wanted to work more closely with the animals. She started working at Sanford Animal Hospital in August, 2016 as a veterinary assistant and we are very lucky to have her on the team. Amy has two young boys - one enjoys baseball, and the other loves his computers. As a family they enjoy fishing, camping, beach trips, and going to the movies. Amy loves all crafting and hopefully the clinic will benefit from her talents. Please welcome Amy to our family here at SAH.
Lindi Renwick – Kennel Manager
Lindi has worked on and off at Sanford Animal Hospital for the past 30 years. For the past four years, she has worked here full time as the Kennel Manager. She graduated from a Veterinary Technician program in 1989, but prefers to care for dogs and cats that are boarding here and need a little extra care and love while you are away from home. Lindi lives with two dogs, a lab mix named Wilson and a Great Dane named Otis. She also has three cats, Squirrely, Simon and Spanky. In her spare time she enjoys running, sleeping, and collecting Beanie Babies. She has two daughters, Anna and Lori, which we have all enjoyed watching grow up with while Lindi has worked here at Sanford Animal Hospital.
Marie Dandron – Kennel Assistant
Marie has worked at Sanford Animal Hospital for seven years as a kennel technician, caring for all of the boarding cats and dogs. She is a wonderful asset to our team and truly enjoys the animals she cares for. Marie lives with two cats - Dallas is her baby girl named after her favorite football team, the Dallas Cowboys, and Pokey is her boy cat whom she has had for eight years. Marie also helps with the feral cat population in her neighborhood by having all the stray cats spayed and neuter when she can catch them. You can rest assured that when your pet is boarding here at Sanford Animal Hospital, they are getting the very best care possible from Marie!
Peyton Fox – Kennel Assistant
Peyton joined his sister, Deanna, in April of 2016, here at Sanford Animal Hospital. This is Peyton’s first job, working in our kennel, and he is doing a wonderful job! We are very happy he came to join our team. Peyton is 16-years-old and currently attends high school. He enjoys being part of the hospital and especially loves being around all the dogs and cats! He lives with his mom and his Pitbull, Georgia. Outside of work, he loves Netflix and shopping. Peyton says he sees himself working here for a long time, and we hope that is true!
Jenna Elliott – Kennel Assistant
Jenna recently joined our kennel team in the summer of 2016. Not only have the animals benefited from her, but all the staff has as well, because she loves to bake! She even drops off bakery goods on her days off for us to eat. Jenna is a junior in high school and has been a competitive swimmer for the past seven years. She has been around dogs her entire life - she has a 7-year-old Papillion named Charmher, and mom has bred Border Collies and is a very talented dog trainer. In her spare time, Jenna likes to backpack with her dad, play the guitar, and hopes to one day travel the world and open a bakery in Segovia, Spain. We will do what we can to support her dreams and keep eating her cookies, cupcakes, and whatever else she will bake for us!
Mackayla Fry – Kennel Assistant
Mackayla is originally from Pennsylvania, but now lives in Sanford. She started working at Sanford Animal Hospital in June of 2016, as part of our kennel team. She quickly became a very valuable member and works quite well with the dogs and cats. Mackayla is a junior in high school and plays in the marching band, as well as many sports. She hopes to pursue a career in veterinary medicine, possibly with the Military and work with bomb sniffing dogs! But first, she wants to travel the world with her best friends. We will hopefully be here to help her make all her dreams come true!
Amanda Blakely – Pet Groomer
Amanda has been grooming animals at Sanford Animal Hospital since 2003. She enjoys grooming both dogs and cats to create the perfect haircut for your pet. She is very patient and willing to spend the extra time to make sure that your pet gets the personal attention to ensure a happy grooming experience. Most dogs love coming to spend the day with her!
Amanda and her husband, Michael, welcomed their son, Kyler, in the summer of 2015. They live on a farm with horses, cows, and chickens. In her free time, Amanda enjoys showing in dressage horse shows.
